The Freedom Society

This last Sunday I went to our Regional Church in Chicago to hear Reverend Moon’s son Kook Jin Moon speak on The Freedom Society . This is not related to any group using the words Freedom Society that can currently be found on the Internet. As the children of Reverend and Mrs. Moon take up leadership roles in the Unification Church, now more commonly called the Family Federation for World Peace, they are brining not only success and prosperity in the areas in which they invest themselves, but more importantly they are bringing clarity. The Unification Church has been diverse and in some ways divided along politics. The First Time I Met Reverend Moon

The first time I met Reverend Moon was in the autumn of 1983. In the Unification Church, one should go through a repentance course in the first six months after one has joined. It is a series of workshops or retreats totaling 70 days, a weekend workshop, seven-day, twenty-one-day and forty-day. Many had never been to a forty-day within that time frame, if at all, since the education system in the United States had not provided one on a regular basis, to my knowledge. A respected Korean elder, Reverend Ahn, was directing the forty-day workshop I was attending and giving some of the lectures. He was known for the depth of his lecture content and ended his lectures bowing to his students. He passed into the spirit world a year or two ago. The Truth

“The truth is the shortest distance between two points.” A statement I recall from reading a speech by Reverend Moon. Is it true? Typical situation: A friend, colleague, coworker, family member or acquaintance walks up and asks you, “How are you?” “Should I give you the short answer or do you have five hours?” you respond. It is a thought going through my mind whenever I am asked. “The short answer.” “I’m fine.” Am I fine? Am I simply being polite? Is it honest? Is it the truth? Am I fine in regards to any responsibility, or job, I am being asked to take on and oversee? Did I say that? “I am fine in regards to the task at hand.” “I am fine in that I am happy to see you.” These may be closer to the truth, qualifying in what regards, ‘I am fine.’ “I am sick.” “I am tired, but okay to work.” Also more descriptive, more honest and closer to the truth as to “How are you?” Now, “Do you have five hours?” If you chose those five hours I susp...

Religion and Politics

Someone recently made a comment that for some religion and politics are the same thing. I am not sure if it was directed to me. And while the Unification Church has been a bastion for anti-communist activities in the past, this image of a single minded political world view looking to rule the world in a political sense is laughable to those who are actually members of the Unification Church. It is the bigots and hate mongers who want to promote that image. They want to create fear, to keep any knowledge of the true nature of the Church hidden. They don't want any inroads in the minds of others that our members are anything other than mind numb robots lacking any human characteristics, any individuality. Just objects... that can be disregarded,... disposed of. I myself had been part of the anti-communist work of our Church. Predestination, Absolute for…

Am I predestined to become an author? Well, technically I guess I am already an author though I still have few readers. You can get one of my books for free until midnight tonight. Click on the image for the link to Amazon. Unification Church teaching does not include absolute predestination. Everything depends on man’s free response so nothing can be absolutely predetermined. I have expounded on concepts of predestination and the origins of good and evil in regard to God and his being in general terms on most all my blogs. Unification Church teachings are very clear as to why history repeats itself. And that God is absolutely good, unable to conceive of, relate to or recognize in anyway evil and what that suggests for the origins of creation, its’ goals and ultimately what is meant by the Last Days (not when the Alabama Moon falls from the shy and the sweet tea wells run dry: TBP).
