The Breaking News

In Mark 8:27-30 Jesus asked his disciples who they thought He was. When Peter answered correctly, Jesus warned His disciples not to tell anyone.

Many have accused the Unification Church of keeping secrets; not being straight forward as to what we believe.

We believe that Jesus came just as Adam and was born to establish God’s lineage here on this earth. That God had no plan, desire or intention of seeing his children fall into the hands of what had become Satan. And God being unchanging, His plans never changing, the goal of His providence has been to do what he intended from the beginning by establishing a new Adam, a second Adam, Jesus to start God’s lineage here on this earth into which all would be engrafted, restoring all to God’s original intention.

So when Jesus, Divine and one with God unlike ourselves, could not establish this family talk of a second coming began. And this second coming is of the same goal as Adam in the Garden of Eden and Jesus in Israel.

The second coming cannot be Jesus as he has died and cannot establish God’s substantial lineage here on this earth. we believe the second coming is described in the “Book of Revelation” as “him who overcomes” at the end of each letter to the churches:

“To him who overcomes I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.”

“… I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it known only to him who receives it.”

“… and does my will to the end I will give authority over the nations – ‘He will rule them as with an iron scepter, he will dash them to pieces like pottery’ – just as I have received authority from my Father I will also give him the morning star.”

“… will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and His angels.”

“… I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name.”

“… I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne. He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

If you have the red letter edition you will recognize all these words attributed to Jesus. And yes they are there, these words, some may argue are being extended to the saints, but others that traditionally describe attributes only given to the Messiah.

So yes, we believe the second coming is not Jesus himself and that he has already arrived, overcome and his name is Reverend Sun Myung Moon. And this breaking news is proclaimed loud and clear under the Love’n Life Ministry spearheaded by Reverend Moon’s daughter Reverend In Jin Moon.

But it has not always been so clearly proclaimed. Jesus told his disciples not to tell anyone who he was. this was because the message could not be received and would produce a backlash. Because Jesus had not yet acquired enough support to protect himself against the forces of Satan, most notably because John the Baptist, pondered to be the messiah himself by the Jewish people of his day, turned his back on Jesus. So Jesus had to start from scratch to build a following on which to stand before the world as the Messiah.

In Reverend Moon’s case the world wide Christian foundation rejected him as the Messianic figure after the Second World War and even threatened his life. Reverend Moon had to go forward to build his own foundation. Preaching in North Korea other Christian churches filed complaints against him to the communist government and he was arrested. He has faced arrest and death several times. I even heard from a church elder that later in the south, I believe the city was Tea Gu, bands of Christians heard he was there and searched the city with the intent of finding and killing him. As I have also heard tell, in the early days of the Unification church even Reverend Moon’s picture was not openly distributed.

When I joined the Unification Church it was not openly proclaimed who Reverend Moon was. It was through the teaching of the Divine Principle, part of the new truth discovered by Reverend moon, that one came to understand who Reverend Moon was.

Then, decades ago now, after creating of foundation of economy, academics and holding a following of not just people of the general society but including religious and secular leaders the ‘Breaking News’, as Reverend In Jin Moon calls it, was proclaimed freely and openly.

When I was younger in the church there was always contention between those who believed we should just be proclaiming outright who Reverend Moon is and those, mostly the leadership, who thought a more cautious approach was necessary. But even at this late date, decades after Reverend Moon has been going on speaking tours declaring the True Parents, the role of the messiah to establish God’s lineage on this earth as God intended from the very beginning, some are not completely open with what we believe.

In visiting some nations around the world I have heard that Reverend In Jin Moon has found the proclamation of what exactly we believe True Parent’s to represent, the second coming, not being clearly defined. But no more. The second coming has long arrived. He has overcome all and is being proclaimed openly.

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the Churches.”

The Freedom Society

This last Sunday I went to our Regional Church in Chicago to hear Reverend Moon’s son Kook Jin Moon speak on The Freedom Society . This is not related to any group using the words Freedom Society that can currently be found on the Internet. The First Time I Met Reverend Moon

The first time I met Reverend Moon was in the autumn of 1983. In the Unification Church, one should go through a repentance course in the first six months after one has joined. It is a series of workshops or retreats totaling 70 days, a weekend workshop, seven-day, twenty-one-day and forty-day. Many had never been to a forty-day within that time frame, if at all, since the education system in the United States had not provided one on a regular basis, to my knowledge. A respected Korean elder, Reverend Ahn, was directing the forty-day workshop I was attending and giving some of the lectures. Religion and Politics

Someone recently made a comment that for some religion and politics are the same thing. I am not sure if it was directed to me. And while the Unification Church has been a bastion for anti-communist activities in the past, this image of a single minded political world view looking to rule the world in a political sense is laughable to those who are actually members of the Unification Church. It is the bigots and hate mongers who want to promote that image. They want to create fear, to keep any knowledge of the true nature of the Church hidden. They don't want any inroads in the minds of others that our members are anything other than mind numb robots lacking any human characteristics, any individuality. The Truth

“The truth is the shortest distance between two points.” A statement I recall from reading a speech by Reverend Moon. Is it true? Typical situation: A friend, colleague, coworker, family member or acquaintance walks up and asks you, “How are you?” “Should I give you the short answer or do you have five hours?” you respond. It is a thought going through my mind whenever I am asked. “The short answer.” “I’m fine.” Am I fine? Am I simply being polite? Is it honest? Is it the truth? Am I fine in regards to any responsibility, or job, I am being asked to take on and oversee? Why the Unification Church Will Never Approve Homosexual Marriages

As one Christian denomination after another enslave themselves to popular culture and alter, or surrender, their doctrine to a norm which includes homosexual marriages or unions, the Presbyterians one of the latest, I can guarantee you the the Unification Church never will. The God Reverend Moon has revealed to this world, to all humankind, is absolute but in a way that transforms one’s vision of the world, unlike the way traditional Christianity does. Where did evil come from? If God absolutely predestined all things and knew this world would turn out the way it did, then evil was conceived from before the creation by God.
